2008 VH1 Rock Honors

July 12th, 2008 - Tape date - Los Angeles CA - Pauley Pavilion
July 17th, 2008 - Broadcast date - 9PM - VH1, VH1 Classic and MHD

It was announced March 25th that The Who, and ONLY The Who, will be celebrated during a two-hour broadcast to be taped July 12th in Los Angeles at the Pauley Pavilion.
TICKETS WERE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. A presale was held first for members of the official "thewho.com" on June 6th. That was followed by presales on the 7th for Ten Club members and members of foofighters.com. Tickets were offered to the general public via ticketmaster beginning June 8th. Tickets priced at $300, $125 and $65, plus there were a number of high end "VIP" (350-750$) and travel packages (2500 -2900$) available as well.

Rock Honors is donating the proceeds this year to: The Teenage Cancer Trust; The Double-O Charity; VH1 Save The Music; VH1 Classic Rock Autism.

The Foo Fighters, The Flaming Lips, Pearl Jam, Incubus, Tenacious D followed by The Who all performed a set.

The Foo - Fighters: (Intro - David Duchovny) - Young Man Blues, Bargain (with Gaz from Supergrass on lead vocal)
Flaming Lips: (intro Rainn Wilson as Elton from Tommy) - Tommy Medley: Overture, Christmas, Pinball Wizard and See Me Feel Me (Lead singer in a giant inflatable pinball, bassist in a skeleton suit)
Incubus: (intro Mila Kunis) - I can See For Miles and I Can't Explain.
Tenacious D - Squeeze Box
Pearl Jam: (intro Sean Penn) - Love Reign O'er Me (with string section!), The Real Me (with horn section!).
Adam Sandler - Parody to Magic Bus

The Who: Baba O'Rily, The Seeker, Who Are You, Behind Blue Eyes, 2000 Years, You Better You Bet, My Generation, Won't Get Fooled Again, Tea & Theatre.

Warm-up shows pre-Japan

On July 10th some LA shows were announced, and there should be a few east coast dates surfacing for 2008 as well.

Mini-Tour of Japan

Pete promised Japan in early, mid 2007, then squashed hopes in November 2007 via one of his blog postings. On June 20th 2008 the band announced that there would be a Japanese Mini-tour in November. A pre-sale via "thewho.com" should be announced shortly. The website was quick to note that the band has no intention of extending the trip to Australia or New Zealand.
