In July of this year, Simon signed with Rising Records. The "Among Us" cd was remixed and released in September of 1997 as #RR 10105. Simon appeared both solo (with son Ben) and with the "Simon Townshend Band" to promote the CD

Mar 12 - Cambridge MA

House Of Blues: Started with a solo acoustic set:

Followed by an "electric" set, with Ben and Linsay:

Ben played drums on several songs.  Lindsay was on rhythm and keyboards. Simon played electric lead.

The Twelve Bar Club: Simon opened up the show solo on acoustic. He was then joined on the tiny stage by Ben and Lindsey.

Fans report that the band was in great rockin' form and seemed to be enjoying themselves despite a small crowd. Crowd response was positive, with lots of "Who's this? They're terrific" type buzzings. Set list included: When She Sleeps, Highness and Company.

The band rocked the roof off the place! Brilliant! Set list basically the same as DC. James Hayto is a tremendous new addition and outdid himself on "Cold Water". Tons of high energy and lots of fun projected by all. Simon was in tip top form and loving every minute! They repeated the outstanding "No Angel" for their encore. Five shows in and they are tighter than ever.

Though plagued with sound problems at the start, they turned in a terrific 75 minute set. The huge venue made the crowd seem sparse, yet new comers in attendance walked away believers!! The group was in great spirits and very gracious to the audience.

Brian Moore Guitar Clinic - at which Simon & co-performed an awesome 8 song set which included: The Way It Is, Cold Water, When She Sleeps, and Tony With The Shades On. Reportedly, the band managed to convert more than a few people and sold many CD's.

For this show, STB was an opening act. But due to the bad weather encountered on road, they didn't arrive at the venue until 8:15pm, just as the headliners were to take the stage.

Appearing as the 2nd of three acts, Simon & Ben performed a 42 minute set, that included numbers from "Among Us" plus "Highness" and "Tony With The Shades On". Fan reports seem to indicate that the crowd seemed to put a bit of a damper on this evening, though the performance was very good, it was not quite up to previous standards.

Appearing as one of four acts on the bill, Simon took the stage with great energy at about 10:45 PM. Though the crowd was relatively small (about 50 people), Simon & Ben seemed to give it their all for their 45 minute set. The set was: When She Sleeps, Comeback, Highness, The Way It Is, So Sleep, Company, Medicine, Save Me, Ecstasy Heaven, Girl In New York
encore: Tony With The Shades On.
At the conclusion of Ecstasy Heaven, Simon was informed by a staff member that he could play only one more song. This news was greeted with boos from the crowd. After Girls on Girls[sic], the crowd let it be known that they were thoroughly enjoying the set, by offering up loads of cheering and applause. The venue gave in, and let Simon & Ben go for one more - They chose the great new tune Tony With The Shades On.

Nov 22 - Seattle, WA (solo acoustic w/Ben)

Ballard Fire House - 5429 Russell NW - (w/ The Beatniks) 9:30 set
Simon was the opening act, performing a 35 minute set. It started off very well, but after about the third song, the noise level from the crowd (especially those in the back) was a bit much, prompting Simon to politely ask for their co-operation, as only a Townshend can "SHUT THE F**K UP!" - ;-)
This happened a few times throughout the set, "Some people here, are here to hear music you know !" Simon played great, but was, understandably, not in the best of moods.

After two opening bands, (Sad-Happy-Mad, then Numb) stb took the stage for a 90 minute set, only slightly abridged from the eastcoast US fall dates. Fan reports indicate another lively show, with many new converts in attendance and brisk CD sales too!!!
