Zak Starkey's work with: |
|
Zak Starkey has been a major Who fan most all of his life! When he was about eight, he found Meaty Beaty Big And Bouncy in his parent's record collection and was hooked. He also came to realize that he already knew the drummer - his "Uncle" Keith!
Over the years, he not only spent social time with Keith, but worked musically with Entwistle and Daltrey on a number of their solo projects. In 1994, he was in "the almost Who" when Roger hit the road for his Daltrey Sings Townshend Tour. But in 1996, Zak would find himself in the real thing - THE WHO!

The Band actually does some Studio Recording!
Pete says (Nov 10, 2004) that if all goes well in the studio, that the band will tour during the first half of 2005! Then he said on March 21st, 2005 that there'd be no '05 Who activity. And then the announcement May 17th of The Who's only 2005 appearance at the Samsung's Four Seasons of Hope charity event! And then the clarification on the 19th that it won't be "The Who", but instead, just "The Tw(h)o" - only Pete and Roger. Then "The Who" (without Zak, who was on tour with Oasis), perform at Live 8.
A full blown Tour begins in 2006 and is now due to go on into 2008! It began with UK and Euro dates, followed by extensive US dates.
The 2006 Tour continued on into 2007 - swinging back through the US then the UK and Europe, winding up officially in Helsinki on July 9th.

** Note that the original incarnation of
Pete's Official Website (launched Oct 1999) was shut down by Pete on Jan 28,
2002.
His
retail site - Eelpie.com
remained up and running and assumed some of the announcement duties.
www.petetownshend.co.uk (.com) was re-launched on June 10, 2002, with a WHO
section in his "projects" area of the site, and once again became
the official outlet for Who Tour and Release info, stories, pictures, sounds
and video. At this time, most all of the "Pete's official site" content referenced
on my pages for 2000 through early 2002, cannot be viewed at eelpie.com or the
new petetownshend/who
site , although an archive of former pt.com materials was said to have been
in the works.
